oyal Air Maroc has run a direct line between Casablanca and Essaouira since Sunday 1 November, with two round-trip flights a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The fare is fixed and subsidized, at 400 dirhams a leg in economy class. The line was inaugurated in Essaouira on Wednesday 28 October.
It stems from a partnership between the ministries of Transport, the Interior and Finance, the wilaya and council of the Marrakech-Safi region, and the national carrier.
On Wednesdays the flight leaves Casablanca at 4:00 p.m., lands in Essaouira at 5:20 p.m. and flies back at 6:00 p.m. On Sundays it departs Casablanca at 8:20 a.m. and Essaouira at 10:20 a.m.
Transport Minister Abdessamad Kayouh ties the line to the carrier’s 2030 strategy. The new-generation aircraft it expects will cut the trip to under thirty minutes, he says.
