Artificial Intelligence: Morocco Among the Nineteen New Signatories of the US Statement

O

n October 1, the US State Department announced that nineteen more countries, Morocco among them, had joined its Joint Statement on AI Opportunity Partnership, endorsed in September during the United Nations General Assembly’s High-Level Week. First signed in June in Washington at the second Pax Silica Summit, the text now counts fifty-four signatories. The Kingdom comes in alongside Albania, Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, the Dominican Republic, Georgia, Iceland, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Peru, Palau, Tonga, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Vietnam.

Signatories commit to fostering regulation that favors investment and innovation, to cooperating on what the statement calls the physical backbone of AI, from energy to critical minerals and semiconductors, and to mobilizing private industry, from data centers to cross-border venture capital. The State Department adds a more political commitment: aligning their super intelligence supply chains with those of the United States and the Pax Silica economies, the initiative launched in December 2025 by the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs, Jacob Helberg. Morocco has thus picked its technological camp, and the reach of this signature will be measured in its data centers and its minerals.
