he draw for the group stage of the 2026-2027 African Champions League, held in Cairo on October 28 by the CAF, placed both Moroccan clubs in demanding groups. Renaissance de Berkane, semifinalists in the last edition, land in Group C with Tanzania’s Simba SC, South Africa’s Orlando Pirates and Cameroon’s Colombe Sportive. Maghreb de Fes fall into Group D, alongside Egypt’s Pyramids FC, Sudan’s Al Hilal and Guinea’s Horoya AC.
Group C promises a reunion: Orlando Pirates are coached by Abdeslam Ouaddou, a former Morocco international, who will therefore come back to play in Morocco, on the Berkane pitch. For the Oranges, the group will also be played on the map, since the calendar sends them to Tanzania, South Africa and Cameroon. The two other groups, one bringing together Esperance de Tunis, Petro Atletico, FC Nouadhibou and Wiliete, the other Zamalek, Young Africans, MC Alger and Club Africain, have no Moroccan club. Both Moroccan sides now know their opponents, and the group stage will open in November.
