Fettah Raises 2026 Growth to 5.3% and Holds the Deficit at 3% Through 2029

P

resenting to the finance committees of both chambers, Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah lifted the 2026 growth forecast to 5.3%, seven tenths of a point above the assumption written into the finance law.

The revision rests first on the land: agricultural value added would rise 15.1% after several years of drought, while non-agricultural activity would hold at 4.2%.

Inflation stayed at 0.5% over the first five months, and the government expects 1.5% across the year. Ordinary receipts jumped 15.4%, and the executive announced a deficit held at 3% of GDP through 2029.

The figure exceeds those of the two institutions whose business it is to temper government optimism: the High Commission for Planning had forecast 4.8% two days earlier, Bank Al-Maghrib 5.2%.

The fact remains that the growth rests on a harvest, variable by nature, and that a deficit frozen at 3% assumes four successive budgets held to the same line.
