t is not a battery plant, it is what feeds one. Falcon Energy Materials, which is developing in Morocco a coated spheronized purified graphite operation sized for 25,000 tonnes a year, announced on September 1 the appointment of Yann Vincent as a non-executive director.

From 2020 to 2026 the French executive ran Automotive Cells Company, the battery joint venture backed by Stellantis, TotalEnergies-Saft and Mercedes-Benz.
The site was not chosen for the graphite, which will come from Guinea, but for the acid. Purification requires anhydrous hydrofluoric acid, which Fluoralpha, a Moroccan company developed by INNOVX, draws from the fluorine held in phosphate rock.
Fluoralpha granted Falcon a site at Jorf Lasfar for the pilot plant, and the commercial plant is planned on Park X, an INNOVX holding adjoining the complex.
The kingdom that already assembles cars will supply the carbon in their batteries, and it is its own phosphate that will have supplied the acid to purify it.
