he High Commission for Planning released its quarterly business surveys on September 3, and the portrait they give of the second quarter of 2026 is of an industry moving forward while carrying its constraints.

Manufacturing output would have risen, pulled by automobiles, electrical equipment and chemicals, with capacity utilization at 75%. Against that, 34% of the sector’s firms report supply difficulties on raw materials, and 19% of managers judge their cash position difficult.
For the third quarter, manufacturers look for higher output, carried by food and chemicals, while automobiles, clothing and paper should give ground.
Extraction, whose output fell in the second quarter along with phosphates, expects to climb back thanks to them, though at the cost of fewer jobs.
Construction is the sector presenting the best face: its activity would have advanced, and it anticipates a further rise with jobs created, even as 28% of its managers call their cash position difficult.
