he Zgounder mine has not finished yielding its grades. The Canadian company Aya Gold & Silver released on Wednesday the results of its at-depth drilling program on this Anti-Atlas silver deposit, the only one in the kingdom worked for that metal alone. In the central zone, the best intercept grades 3,501 grams of silver per tonne over 3.5 meters, including 7,717 grams over 1.5 meters; a second returns 4,770 grams over 2.4 meters, a third 1,362 grams over 8.4 meters, including 2,873 grams over 3.6 meters, and a fourth 762 grams over 12 meters. Around the open pit, reverse circulation cut 783 grams over 13 meters and 501 grams over 11 meters, including 4,000 grams over 1 meter. The release covers ninety-seven holes; 16,217 meters have been drilled since the start of the year, or 54.1% of the 2026 exploration program.
These figures, in the words of President and CEO Benoit La Salle, “continue to reinforce the strength and continuity of silver mineralization both around the open pit and across the central zone.” He adds that development of the exploration drift at the 1,825-metre level is progressing well, and that it would open the way in the fourth quarter to drilling west of the fault. That is where the rest of the story sits: Zgounder has been known for decades by what it shows at surface, and the company is now after what the fault hides from it. Samples go to the Afrilab laboratory in Marrakech or to the ALS laboratory on the mine site, and anything above 200 grams of silver per tonne is rerun by fire assay.
