Designed with the Cite and the Institut francais du Maroc, the program gives each of them a furnished studio apartment at the Marais site, a living grant of 1,000 euros net per month and professional mentoring.

It is open to any artist of Moroccan nationality, with no age limit, who has practiced for at least three years or holds an art school diploma, in the visual or digital arts, film, the performing arts or writing.

The ministry ties the name to Atlas, the Titan who carries the world on his shoulders and who gave his own name to Morocco’s mountain range.

Founded in 1965, the Cite describes itself as the largest artists’ residency in the world, hosting more than three hundred artists at a time.
