Tirzzit Copper: Talisman Metals’ First Drill Holes Hit 1.56% Copper and 64 g/t Silver

T

alisman Metals released on October 21 the first assay results of its 2026 drilling campaign at the Tirzzit copper project, 225 kilometers east of Agadir. The first four reverse circulation holes confirm the expected copper mineralization in the sedimentary strata of the Late Precambrian basal series. The best, TRC01, returned 1.56% copper and 64 grams of silver per ton over 2 meters, from a depth of 8 meters. TRC02 gave 0.31% copper over 10 meters from 2 meters, including one meter at 2.08%, and TRC04 0.31% copper and 7 grams of silver per ton over 5 meters from 83 meters, including one meter at 1.05% copper and 19 grams of silver.

The project, two mining licenses covering 16.5 km², was acquired in February from a subsidiary of Canada’s Aya Silver & Gold, which holds 4.7% of Talisman; the formal transfer of the licenses is still under way, the company says. Morocco’s Bureau of Mining Research and Participations had already intersected up to 3.16% copper over 2.5 meters there between 1972 and 1976. Chief executive Tim McCutcheon sees in the results confirmation of the existence and location of the copper-bearing strata, and expects the rest of the program to uncover folds carrying wider mineralized zones. Drilling will go on for another four to six weeks, and further results will come in the fourth quarter, toward a first resource estimate.
