othema announced on October 28 the signing of an agreement to acquire 100 percent of the capital of Ramo Pharm, a Casablanca company founded in 1999 that specializes in food supplements. Its brands, sold through pharmacies, include Enrouex, ZENmag, Toudex, Hivernex, CD Zinc and Matervit, positioned on ENT, immunity, stress and sleep, and women’s health, with a pipeline of new products held in reserve. The deal remains subject to the usual conditions precedent, chiefly clearance from the Competition Council.
For the pharmaceutical group based in Bouskoura, which turns fifty this year, the deal lays the foundations of a fourth division, “Wellness & Consumer Health,” alongside general medicine and chronic care, specialty products and dialysis. Chief executive Lamia Tazi says that “the future of a health group rests on its ability to accompany patients at every stage of their journey,” and plans to rely on Sothema’s international distribution networks to carry Ramo Pharm’s brands beyond Morocco. Karim Akouz, managing partner of Ramo Pharm, sees in Sothema the partner able to “preserve this spirit.” Until the Competition Council has cleared the deal, this fourth division remains a project, and the statement gives neither the price nor the timetable of the transaction.
