oyal Air Maroc announced on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, that it will fit forty-one of its aircraft with Starlink satellite internet, the network run by the American company SpaceX, becoming the first African airline to offer the service in flight. The first installations will begin early in 2027 and will then spread gradually across the fleet concerned, so as to keep operations running on schedule. High-speed access will be free for members of the Safar Flyer loyalty program, who will be able to stream content, message and work in real time for the whole of the journey.
For Hamid Addou, chairman and chief executive of the national carrier, “this agreement reflects a clear and firm ambition,” part of a multi-year plan that covers fleet renewal, redesigned cabins and an overhaul of the passenger experience, on the ground and on board. Lauren Dreyer, vice president of Starlink business operations at SpaceX, sees in it “an important milestone for aviation in Africa.” The airline is targeting business travelers, tourists, students and Moroccans abroad, for whom an uninterrupted connection has become a deciding factor. From next year, Casablanca will thus become the starting point of a connected network reaching the rest of the continent.
