hree projects, one contract. The Office National des Chemins de Fer has selected the consortium formed by China Railway Material Group Hong Kong & Macau and China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation to supply the switches and crossings for three operations.

They will serve the rail link to the new port of Nador West Med, the connection between Tangier and Ibn Batouta airport, and the second phase of Ain Dalia station.
Estimated at 200 million dirhams, the tender drew three bidders. The Office justifies its choice by the “lowest compliant bid” character of the winning proposal, set at 19.08 million euros before tax.
A switch is no accessory: it is the moving part that decides where a train goes, and its lead time often governs the schedule of an entire site.
None of the three operations is a new line, all are grafts onto what exists. Two of the three bids came from Chinese rail manufacturers, and it is from China that the switches for the trains of Nador and Tangier will come.
