The Centre says it responded favorably to requests from several professional organizations and figures in the film industry.

The argument is one of calendar. Professionals pointed to the heavy concentration of festivals in October and to the risk of overlapping schedules that limits the participation of Moroccan films, while several leading international festivals also require premiere status.

By moving to March, the National Film Festival will now open the national cinema season, of which the Marrakech International Film Festival is to remain the culmination.
