Royal Cabinet: the King’s Instructions for the Stage After the End of the Minurso Mandate

K

ing Mohammed VI chaired a working session on November 4 devoted to the stage that follows the end of the United Nations mission’s mandate, according to a statement from the Royal Cabinet.

Taking part were the head of government, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, the King’s adviser Fouad Ali El Himma, the interior minister, Abdelouafi Laftit, and Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, commander of the Southern Zone.

The sovereign recalled the priorities of the October 30 statement, namely respect for territorial integrity, national security and the calm of citizens, in particular in the Southern Provinces. He gave his instructions for carrying them out and for continuing the development projects in those provinces.

The Kingdom reaffirms its commitment to the ceasefire, which will not change with the end of the mission’s mandate, according to the statement.

The Coordination Office with Minurso, attached to the interior ministry, is tasked with supporting the liquidation and withdrawal of the mission, in smooth and orderly conditions.

The statement also recalls the recognitions of Morocco’s sovereignty by friendly countries, which see autonomy as the only political solution.
