he National Ports Agency and the French Development Agency sealed a third financing of 100 million euros in Rabat on November 3, through a joint declaration.
The loan is non-sovereign and concessional, repayable over thirteen years and granted without a state guarantee. It will support the ANP investment programme for 2023-2030.
Four priorities shape it: rehabilitating port structures, developing renewable energy and desalination, modernising fishing ports, and cutting emissions from port activity, notably by electrifying quays.
The operations target Tan-Tan, Tarfaya, Laayoune, Boujdour, Dakhla and Lamhiriz. Minister Nizar Baraka sees them anchoring the Southern Provinces more firmly in the national economy and putting their Atlantic opening to use.
The French ambassador, Philippe Lalliot, stressed adapting coastal facilities to rising seas and heavy swells. The declaration extends the commitments made during the French president’s state visit on October 28, 2024.
