Boujmil: TAQA Morocco Closes Green Financing for First Phase of Its Wind Farm

T

he TAQA Morocco group closed financing on November 3 for the first phase of the Boujmil wind farm in northern Morocco: 96 MW for about 1.3 billion dirhams.

It is the company’s first green financing, raised from four Moroccan banks: Banque Centrale Populaire, Attijariwafa bank, Bank of Africa and Saham Bank.

TAQA Morocco Wind Corporation, a group subsidiary wholly owned through TAQA Morocco Wind Green Energy, will build and operate the farm.

For the project, TAQA Morocco cites the electricity use of 120,000 homes and avoided emissions of about 250,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.

The farm could reach 144 MW in time, and its first electricity supply is planned for the second half of 2027.
