he Royal Moroccan Football Federation handed the women’s national team on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, to the French coach Eric Blahic, who succeeds the Spaniard Jorge Vilda after nearly three years in the post. The new head coach wasted no time: he has called up thirty-one players, among them veterans such as Ghizlane Chebbak, for a training camp at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora, built around two friendlies against Uzbekistan, on Friday, October 9, at the Moulay El Hassan stadium in Rabat, then on Monday, October 12, at the Al Madina stadium.
A former assistant to Corinne Diacre and then to Herve Renard with the France women’s team until 2024, Eric Blahic has also worked as assistant coach at Guingamp, Sochaux, Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux. He inherits a squad that Vilda, who arrived in 2023 fresh from winning the world title with Spain, led to fourth place at the Africa Cup of Nations played in Morocco this summer. The double header against Uzbekistan will be his first test before competitive fixtures.
