The jury will choose among the first and second feature films selected for the international competition and award the Etoile d’Or, the festival’s highest prize.

A regular of the event since its first editions, the French actress said that supporting filmmakers as they take their first steps is “in its DNA,” and “it is a great joy for me to chair the jury this year.”

First known through Taxi, Marion Cotillard rose to international stature with her Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, which won her the 2008 Academy Award for Best Actress. Her filmography has since taken her from Jacques Audiard to James Gray, from Christopher Nolan to the Dardenne brothers.

Entrusting such a figure with a jury devoted to first and second films restates the calling Marrakech claims for itself, that of a springboard for new voices in world cinema.
