Households: Confidence Dips to 59.2 Points in the Third Quarter, Above Its 2025 Level

M

orocco’s High Commission for Planning published on October 15 its household survey for the third quarter of 2026: the household confidence index stands at 59.2 points, against 60.1 the previous quarter and 53.6 a year earlier.

Behind this slight dip, perceptions remain bleak: 76.3% of households say their standard of living has deteriorated over the past twelve months, and 51.7% expect a further deterioration. As many as 61.3% expect unemployment to rise.

Household finances remain tight: 39% of households report borrowing or drawing on their savings, and only 2.8% manage to put part of their income aside.

Food prices dominate the mood, as 95.9% of households have seen them rise over the year.

The gain of 5.6 points in twelve months thus lifts the mood out of the lows of 2025 without yet turning it around. The index will only recover for good as fast as the grocery bill eases.
