T

he market operator wants to own the tool its members work with. The Competition Council has made public the summary of an operation in which the Casablanca Stock Exchange takes exclusive control of NT Soft, acquiring 80% of its share capital in a first stage and then all of its shares.

The target, based in Casablanca, writes software for brokerage firms, insurance companies and intermediaries, pharmacies and pharmaceutical wholesalers, and law practices. The acquirer is held mainly by the Caisse de Depot et de Gestion, banks, insurance companies and brokerage firms.

The company that runs Morocco’s stock market is therefore buying one of the software houses that equip its own members. It will fall to the regulator to say whether that double position, infrastructure and supplier at once, raises a competition question.

The price, the seller and the target’s turnover do not appear in the notice. Interested third parties have until September 9 to file observations.
